Ear Correction
Bring balance to your look and confidence to your step
Ear correction surgery, also known as otoplasty, can improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear. This surgery can correct a defect in the ear structure that is present at birth or treat misshapen ears caused by injury. Most men come to our clinic to ‘pin’ back ears that appear to be disproportionately sticking out.
What can I expect?
Otoplasty creates a more natural shape while bringing balance and proportion to the ears and face. Correction of even minor deformities can have profound benefits to appearance and self-esteem. If you have protruding or misshapen ears, you may consider plastic surgery. The conditions commonly treated include:Ear correction surgery usually takes place under a local anesthetic with sedation and usually involves making an incision behind the ear to expose the ear cartilage. The cartilage is then partially removed or reshaped (using stitches) into the desired shape and position.
During the first few days after surgery, your ears may be sore and tender. A bandage is placed around your head for the first five days to protect your ears. A headband is then worn at night (while sleeping) for a total of 6 weeks.
